Eagles' Nest Baptist Church Mural Update

Here is a continuation of the mural I am painting for Eagles' Nest Baptist Church. In my first post I left you with just a primed and spattered wall.

At this point the mural is still unfinished, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak at the steps taken to the where I have stopped on day two.

The look of this design will be a cloudy sky with the suns rays bursting through along with a couple of eagles in silhouette.

I'm painting this mural with theatrical scenic paint on a heavy muslin. This type of muslin is used for background drops for theatrical stage productions. This will work wonderful as the backdrop to the Pastor and entertainment he has on this stage. Especially with theatre stage lighting he has hanging; the colors will pop. Using scenic paint works well with the layered technique I'm using. The paint can be thinned without loosing color. I started placing in my mid-tone color first. Then followed with the darker tones. So my pallet in order was magenta, blues, purple, white and yellow. With layering, the colors are always changing some and the spatter still shows though, to give it another dimension to the look of the painting.

Here is the continuation of the painting and adding of the frame.

This is a layout of some of the frame that will go around the the mural.

Bruce is working on the frame.

The mural is almost finished. As you can see we will clean up after all the final details are completed.
I will also have a fun full start to finish video.

Finally FINISHED :)

The mural dimensions in total is 11ft. high by 37ft wide.

Even though it is one huge mural separated by a beam, it sort of looks like two, so I signed both sides.

Thanks to Pastor McClain for commissioning me to design and
execute a beautiful mural for the backdrop of his church stage.

Please take a moment to stop by and see it. Photos don't always give it justice.
It's even more impressive in person. Check out the website for times the door is open.

Eagles' Nest Baptist Church Mural

Here are some photos and video on 11'x35' mural that was created from scratch. Bruce and I built a wall and covered it with a heavy muslin. We built it so in the future when the congregation outgrows this space they can move it to a new and larger building.

To make it easier we rented a storage space a few doors down to build all the panels.

I then laid out a 16'x45' muslin to prime it.

For added texture to the painting I spattered some background color.

Then it was off to the Church to install.

Enjoy this fun video

The next blog will follow with more photos and video in step by step painting.

The final finished painting will be a sky with clouds and sunburst peeking through. In silhouette will be a couple of Eagles, one sitting and one flying.

The two panels will also be framed to finish the final look.

A Riverhouse Update

Riverhouse Pottery Artisan Gift Gallery is one of the several places
you can find some of my USA Studio Originals.

Riverhouse carries my scarves

Each scarf has been tie dyed, hand painted and sewn by me. So each one is an original piece of art. Some of the scarves are warm for winter and cool for those cool summer nights. You can even pre-order a personally made for you scarf. Just ask.

Riverhouse carries my fun magnets

All my magnets are photos that I have taken in my travels or images of art I have created. Some are even just hand painted fun designs. Each one has a label on the back with the name of the image. Though you will find more of one image, none are the same in total look. The edges are painted in different colors and some have extra writing on the front, also in different colors. These are a perfect gift for any collector. Also, very affordable.

Riverhouse is located at 118 Palmetto Ave., in Historic Downtown Sanford.

Table Top Art

Local Bar Uncle Lou's is this dive in need of a makeover. Suzan Elizabeth steps in and gathers several artists to help out. First she has painted one of the long walls black. A blank black canvas for several artists scheduled to start painting from 3pm Sat. May 14th. Today on Fri. the 13th of May, she began to hang original local art on the opposite wall. Along with the walls, there are a few black round 3' tables also canvas ready for more artists to paint.

I decided to tag a table with something fun to sit and look at. This was a great way to advertise me. With some of my art for sale on the wall and now a permanent table with my name and website (sprungart.com) for all who stop by to see.

Here are some photos from start to finish. Enjoy.

Stop by Uncle Lou's Entertainment Hall (Lou's LMGA) and check out the new and improved space.
