Eagles' Nest Baptist Church Mural Update

Here is a continuation of the mural I am painting for Eagles' Nest Baptist Church. In my first post I left you with just a primed and spattered wall.

At this point the mural is still unfinished, but I wanted to give you a sneak peak at the steps taken to the where I have stopped on day two.

The look of this design will be a cloudy sky with the suns rays bursting through along with a couple of eagles in silhouette.

I'm painting this mural with theatrical scenic paint on a heavy muslin. This type of muslin is used for background drops for theatrical stage productions. This will work wonderful as the backdrop to the Pastor and entertainment he has on this stage. Especially with theatre stage lighting he has hanging; the colors will pop. Using scenic paint works well with the layered technique I'm using. The paint can be thinned without loosing color. I started placing in my mid-tone color first. Then followed with the darker tones. So my pallet in order was magenta, blues, purple, white and yellow. With layering, the colors are always changing some and the spatter still shows though, to give it another dimension to the look of the painting.

Here is the continuation of the painting and adding of the frame.

This is a layout of some of the frame that will go around the the mural.

Bruce is working on the frame.

The mural is almost finished. As you can see we will clean up after all the final details are completed.
I will also have a fun full start to finish video.

Finally FINISHED :)

The mural dimensions in total is 11ft. high by 37ft wide.

Even though it is one huge mural separated by a beam, it sort of looks like two, so I signed both sides.

Thanks to Pastor McClain for commissioning me to design and
execute a beautiful mural for the backdrop of his church stage.

Please take a moment to stop by and see it. Photos don't always give it justice.
It's even more impressive in person. Check out the website for times the door is open.
