“Celebration of Life"-Sharon Pollard 

and Bohemians Redeux

The Casselberry Art House will be hosting a Celebration of Life event and exhibit honoring the late Sharon Pollard, an artist formerly from the Orlando area.  She was one of the 12 original Bohemian artists that traveled to Paris and, as part of their journey, created artwork that was shown in the 2002 Joie de Vivre… Joy of Life exhibit at the Casselberry City Hall.  A free reception will be held on Friday, May 14 from 6-9 p.m.  Along with the Celebration of Life, a Bohemians Redeux exhibit will feature the original Bohemians’ most recent work in a 10” x 10” format.  Come join us in honoring a wonderful artist and her work.  The Casselberry Arthouse is located at 127 Quail Pond Circle.

Instinct for Beauty

In conjunction with the Celebration of Life-Sharon Pollard exhibit, the Casselberry City Hall, located at 95 Triplet Lake Drive, will host the Instinct for Beauty exhibit from 6-8 p.m.  It will showcase artists Thomas Carmon, Marta Crawford, Kaye Hannah, Pierre Haskelson, Marcia Herring, Brad Levine, Jane Polkowski, and Sally Shisler, as they share a common thread of expressing incomparable beauty through works of art.   The exhibit will continue thru June 25 and is available for public viewing during business hours, Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.-5p.m.

Art On The Walls Of Edward Jones

The walls of Edward Jones in Winter Park have now become my own mini gallery. Stop by 1850 W. Fairbanks Ave., Suite A, Winter Park, FL 32789 and take a look around. Hera Bakthy is the Financial Advisor, along with her assistant Diane have invited me to show my art over the next few months. If you’re in town stop by and say HI, Monday - Friday 10am - 5pm.

When the art sells, it will be replace by new pieces. All the art is original; oil paintings and digital/mixed media. Very affordable.  The photos above are just a section of the 31 pieces hanging.

Remember original art makes great gifts.

Theatre Update

Today I created a cool visual…. Here is a Scenic Painting Swatch Demo that will be used for a workshop I am teaching, Apr. 8, 2010, during the Florida State Thespian competition. For my workshop I will be explaining how I created the faux woodgrain, marble, brick, stone and concrete. The students will be given some samples of scenes; they will quickly draw out some thumbnail sketches of the scene they choose. Then we will begin to construct a model for that set. They will learn basics in the short amount of time allotted.

On  May 27, 2010 a show called WHEN IN ROME, will be preformed by the students of The Hebrew Day School. I am designing and building the set, at my home to be transported and put together at the Plaza Theatre. I’ll have some photos up soon.

Following that, I will be designing my 12th show for Summer Fine Arts in Brevard County. This year the High School students will be working on WEST SIDE STORY. Some perform, some build and I get those who want to paint. The show opens at the end of June at Merritt Island High School.

Art at TWIST

This wonderful and colorful space was a perfect venue to hang my art. Twist Hair Studio owned by Jill Berry, is located at 3708 Edgewater Drive, Orlando, FL 32804. If you would like to make an appointment for a new hair style, call 407-293-3950. But, please go by and check out my art on the walls, which are all looking for a new home. Tuesday thru Saturday - Closed Sunday and Monday.

You will find a variety of mediums from traditional to recycled, there are oil paintings, digital photos and fun 3D disk art.
